Receipt scanning and expense reporting app that reads receipts from photos and builds reports for reimbursement or bookkeeping.
Expensify started as an expense report tool for employees and is now used by freelancers and small businesses as well. You photograph a receipt, and the app reads the merchant, date and amount, then files it as an expense you can categorize and attach to a report.
Reports can go to a manager for approval or to a bookkeeper, and the app connects to common accounting software so expenses flow into the books. It also offers company cards and reimbursement features for teams. For a household, it can keep deductible expenses together for tax time, though it is built mainly for work expenses. Check which plan fits how many people will submit expenses, and where scanned receipts are stored. Mileage can be logged as well.
