About Splitwise
App for splitting bills and shared costs with roommates, partners, friends and trip groups, keeping a running balance of who owes whom.
Splitwise keeps track of shared costs. You add an expense, say who paid and how it splits, and the app keeps a running balance between everyone in the group. Roommates use it for rent and utilities, couples for shared household costs, and friends for trips and dinners.
When it is time to settle, it shows the fewest payments needed to clear the balances. You record a payment when someone pays, and in some places you can pay through linked services. There is a free version, and a paid version adds features such as receipt scanning and charts. It doesn't need your bank login to work, which suits people who want to share costs without connecting accounts. Each expense can be split equally, by shares or by exact amounts.
